At a recent wedding show that I attended, I came across a booth from the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory. Located at 2500 Kossuth Road in Cambridge, Ontario, the butterfly conservatory is a beautiful location for weddings, corporate events and private parties. It has been in business since 2001 and was formerly known as Wings of Paradise Butterfly Conservatory before changing its name in 2010. The Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory site spans 117 acres and has a 10,800 square foot indoor tropical garden, featuring at least 2,000 free-flying butterflies and moths. You can also view all four stages of the butterfly’s transformation from caterpillar to butterfly. Waterfalls, cascading pools and assorted tropical creatures such as tropical finches, red-eared slider turtles and Chinese painted quail, all adorn this stunningly beautiful and original venue. The Conservatory hosts many events all year round, such as their Sweetheart Dinner and Stroll for Valentine’s Day, Easter Egg Hunt, Mother’s Day Brunch, children’s programs (such as school tours), corporate meetings and many other events.

As a decorator, I saw amazing opportunities for a beautiful wedding décor. The Conservatory has a beautiful, outdoorsy feel, with a lot of greenery and plant life, which makes an amazing ceremony setting and can accommodate 100 standing guests or 30 seated guests. For a more traditional setting, The Monarch Room is available for a chapel-like ceremony for up to 70 seated guests. Couples can opt to do a butterfly release as part of their ceremony, which is a beautiful and romantic touch to add to any ceremony. Receptions for cocktail parties, brunches and sit-down dinners, are also available. Couples can also book this venue for their wedding photos, which would be gorgeous against this amazing backdrop.
