In addition to decorating for many weddings each year, I also do a lot of corporate events. Over the years, I have worked on many year-end galas for my corporate clients. Year-end galas are very popular for my corporate clients, but perhaps less well-known is the fact that I also do décor for a lot of corporate events year-round. Many companies will do week-long training events for their staff during the warmer weather months, some of which take place at a remote venue. The training events may even require their employees to be away from home for a week for an out-of-town event.
Often at the end of the week-long training session, the company will host a gala evening for the employees. That’s where I come in—I will be responsible for decorating the event. The corporations will often give me complete discretion in terms of design choices to create the perfect décor for their event. These gala evenings are often quite glamorous affairs, with formal or semi-formal dress and the décor definitely reflects this. Depending on the client’s wishes, I will typically do an elegant, classy, formal décor that reflects the company’s desire to thank their employees for spending a week at the session. After a week of training and team-building, the companies want their employees to be able to relax, kick back and have a good time.
As a decorator, I always have to work within my clients’ budgets and this is particularly true of corporate gala events. But no matter what the budget, I can create a beautiful décor that will provide the backdrop for an event that employees will always remember.
