In my business, I am regularly approached by charitable organizations to help them with their décor for their fundraising events and it is a part of the business that I truly love. I really enjoy the opportunity to help out, use my skills and experience as a decorator to give back to the community and help raise money for good causes. Due to time constraints, I have to be selective on which offers I accept, though I always do my best to accommodate requests.
Charitable organizations work within very limited budgets, but in order to put on successful fundraisers, they need to create glamorous and gala-type events. That’s where I come in—they will often call upon experienced vendors like me to help them to make their events a success. Creating stunning centerpieces for fundraising events is among my services.
On May 5, 2012, I was one of the sponsors for the “High-Five” gala to support Cystic Fibrosis research, which took place at Conestoga Place (formerly Columbus Center) on Manitou Drive in Kitchener. The gala followed a day of skydiving to raise money for this terrible disease that affects the lungs and digestive systems of children and young adults. The design was elegant and classy and guests enjoyed a delicious four-course dinner. A photo was taken of each guest at the entrance and the guests were able to take home the framed photograph as a souvenir of this great event, as well as gift bags valued at over $200. Las Vegas Entertainer and MC Mr. Hugo Straney was also there, as well as a live band. It was a fabulous event and a good time was had by all!
