Pantone—the “global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries”— has released their list of colour trends for spring 2013! Pantone are certainly the colour experts and their spring 2013 colour trend selections will find their way into home décor and clothing this spring. Also look for these colours to find their ways into weddings this year. Bridesmaids’ dresses and wedding décor will feature Pantone’s spring 2013 palette; however, if you’re out shopping for bridesmaids’ dresses, you may not see these colours until later in the year.
Pantone’s Colour of the Year is Monaco Blue. A dark, neutral blue that resembles navy, Monaco Blue is a universal colour that is pulled into everything – from paint to fashion to homes to runways. It would go very well with beige, white and creams. Also in the blue family is Dusk Blue, a calming lighter blue that Pantone has chosen for spring 2013.
Pantone has also chosen a few beautiful green shades in Emerald, Grayed Jade and Tender Shoots (a mossy, yellow-green shade). If you prefer more neutral shades, Pantone has chosen linen, a very pleasant, neutral shade.
Orange has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years and is a very hot colour right now. For spring 2013, nectarine is the go-to orange shade. Nectarine is a beautiful colour for wedding décor and adds a bright, cheerful feel to bridesmaids’ dresses. For brides wanting to make a bold statement, Poppy Red is a beautiful, red shade that will add that wow factor to any wedding décor or bridesmaids’ dress. Lemon Zest is a bright, cheerful yellow that will brighten up any wedding décor. Last on Pantone’s list is African Violet, a pleasing purple shade that will add beauty and elegance to any wedding colour palette.
